He did not leave the way a bishop should.
After serving Holy Liturgy before approximately 20 people inside an otherwise empty cathedral, Bishop Irinej did not walk out through the front doors — where over 70 parishioners stood, as they have stood every Sunday for 36 consecutive weeks.
He left through the lower parking lot. Through the side street next to the residence of the newly installed priest. Through the neighborhood — quietly, without a single word to the community that built every stone of that cathedral.

A bishop who slips out through a side street to avoid his own flock is not demonstrating authority.
He is demonstrating fear.
Postscript: Today is not an ordinary Sunday. Today is Vidovdan — the day the Serbian people on the field of Kosovo chose the Heavenly Kingdom over the earthly one. A day of honor, sacrifice, and eternal faithfulness.
Instead of spending Vidovdan with his people — honoring the Kosovo martyrs together, talking, resolving, healing — Bishop Irinej chose the basement, secrecy, and a Greek garden.
Outside, over 70 Serbs stood waiting. On Vidovdan.
Need I say anything else? He came the way he left. And he left the way he came.
