THEY ARE SELLING OUR HISTORY ON FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE

St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio — July 7th, 2026.

Last night, around 8 PM, a truck left the parking lot of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio.

By the time we arrived, the truck was already loaded. We do not know when the loading began, or who was watching.

On that truck — desks, chairs, and supplies from the Serbian school and Sunday school. Quality furniture. Solid, well-made, built to last.

It lasted decades. Through generations of Serbian children who sat at those desks and learned who they are — their language, their faith, their history.

It will not last much longer. Because it is now for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

WHO BOUGHT THAT FURNITURE?

Not the Trusteeship. Not Bishop Irinej. Not anyone connected to the current administration of this diocese.

That furniture was purchased by the first Serbian settlers — the men and women who built this community from nothing on 36th Street in Cleveland. People who worked double shifts, who saved every dollar, who gave what they barely had so that their children and grandchildren would have a place to learn Serbian, to pray in Serbian, to be Serbian in America.

They bought those desks so Serbian children would sit at them.

They bought those chairs so Serbian families would gather around them.

And now? Now they are for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

FOR WHICH CHILDREN?

And for which children is this furniture being sold off? The same children that Your Grace and Your Trusteeship drove away. The same children who no longer have a folklore director, a Sunday school, or a front door they are allowed to walk through.

Serbian school is where children learn what Serbian language means, what Serbian culture means, what Serbian tradition means. It is where they learn who they are.

Why would you need Serbian school furniture when there are no Serbian children left to sit in it?

You made sure of that.

THIS IS NOT MISMANAGEMENT. THIS IS ERASURE.

This is not a mistake. This is not oversight. This is not a bishop who doesn't know what is happening on his watch.

This is systematic. This is deliberate. This is what happens when the people running an institution do not care about its history, do not care about its community, and do not care about the children who were supposed to inherit it.

They removed the priest, they locked out the parishioners, they drove away the children, they called the police, they filed trespass notices, they threatened families with jail.

And now? Now they are selling it all on Facebook Marketplace — along with the chairs from the small hall and the picnic tables where generations of Serbian families broke bread together.

They are erasing every trace that we ever existed here.

A QUESTION FOR BISHOP IRINEJ:

Your Grace, do you know what those school desks cost in 1960s dollars? Do you know what it meant for a Serbian immigrant family, fresh off the boat, to put money into a church so their grandchildren would have a place to learn?

Do you care?

Because the people of St. Sava Cathedral care. They remember. They know exactly what that furniture means and where it came from.

And they are watching every truck that leaves that parking lot.
